This week at the hub – Week 05

The week at iHub Africa is progressing well as the 49 cohorts dive deep into the world of web development. It’s Week 5 with challenges navigating the WordPress platform, the ever-great digital marketing facilitator Irma Karsten dedicated her time to sorting out technical issues. The cohorts are tasked with mastering the art of building a website through the final push in Phase 4A, which consisted of 6 weeks.

In full swing, social media struggles in terms of the simulation, the final stretch is understanding their package themselves as iHub graduates for the next opportunities in the digital industry as they venture into 2025. Delays with the masterclass for the week allowed the cohorts to tackle the ideas for the 1000 completed applications objective. By the 6th of September, we had a twist of the masterclass on Time & Project Management since Elijah D couldn’t make it.

Despite the masterclass being delayed, Sbusiso Ncala took us through a discussion on managing life and lifestyle creep. Split into two groups, a discussion lasted for an hour between the girls and boys. Finally, This One Thing presentation wrapped the week as Zanele Baloyi gave us her background being one of six children, and a challenging history from her experience with her father but she started the presentation with “Reframing Rejections” and detailed how navigating rejection comes at a crucial time for the students as they are applying for job shadowing and are facing rejection. And left them with the reminder to “remember who you are”
